BIG NOISE

WHAT’S THE SCOOP: BIG NOISE

If you start to spend serious time at the gym and around serious gym goers, you begin to realize there is an entire language you have earned the right to use.  Today we are going to talk about the pump.  You have probably heard it, you should have felt it, and maybe you have even seen it.  Redcon1’s non-stimulant pre-workout Big Noise is designed to maximize the pump.

Big noise is available in both flavored and unflavored containers of thirty servings.  My personal preference is for the unflavored since I regularly stack the product with other flavored supplements.    It is important to note that while this is offered as a ‘Pre-Workout’ it can be stacked with a stimulant pre-workout because of the formula.   There is no caffeine in Big Noise, but it will still have the power to carry you through your workout.

Hitting you first in the scoop is Choline.  Choline is produced naturally in the body and comes from the foods you eat.  It is found in proteins, nuts, seeds, and even some vegetables.  Choline supports metabolic function in the body along with improving brain function.  Studies have shown that athletes supplementing with choline have lower levels of hormones that control body fat while others have shown increased memory and cognitive function in the elderly with higher choline levels.  While choline may not affect the pump directly, muscle definition is a function of fat content.  The lower the fat levels the more well defined the muscle group is.  Not to mention increased focus in the gym to make every rep count.

Following up is Sodium!  You read that right, sodium derived from Pink Himalayan Salt is the second ingredient in this pre-workout.  Sodium is part of the process to fire a command from your nerves to your muscles to get them to move.  If you do not have enough sodium in your diet you may experience cramping in the muscles.  The process of sweating also depletes sodium stores in the body.  While there is argument over how much salt the average person needs, there is no debate that if you lift weight, you need sodium.

Keeping with the hydration we have Betaine Anhydrous up next.  The amino acid found in sugar beets has been studied and proven to be effective in strength training.  One study found that when taken by athletes there were increased in one rep maxes for both squat and bench press!  Betaine Anhydrous also has been slow down fatigue and grow muscles.  Overall, your third compound is there to keep the fullness and help you push that workout to the bitter end.

It is difficult to replicate the alertness that caffeine can provide.  However, Redcon1 found a solution with Acetyl-L-Carnitine.  Derived from the amino acid L-carnitine, the acetyl variation is responsible for burning fat in the body to create energy.  That is an important piece to remember when stacking for the gym.  Do you just want to get amped up, or are you keeping your eyes on the goal?  Aside from being an energy source, Acetyl-L-Carnitine is also debated to improve nerve function and mood!  Although I do not think many people can really be in a bad mood at the gym.

Following up our mood enhancing fat burner is Glucosyl Hesperidin, also labeled in this case, as Citrapeak!  Citrapeak is a compound from the company Prinova.  It is touted as slow to release, taking up to thirty minutes to fully course through your system.  Perfect for a workout formula.  As it travels through it promises to deliver increased blood flow, a statement that has scientific backing.  That is important in a scoop you just downed promising you a pump from this session!  With the increased blood flow comes an increase in nitric oxide, which leads to vasodilation or in laymen’s terms, the vein pop.

One of my favorite characteristics of Big Noise is the ability to enjoy it any time of day.  Coming in second to last is L Theanine to help you relax.  You read that right, to help you relax. Do not start to write the hate mail just yet.  L-Theanine is a non-drowsy amino acid that reduces stress and anxiety.  Consider that day you got to the gym and everyone bigger than you decided to also show up.  Or when your gym crush caught you staring.  Or how about when you had that awful day at work and just were not in the mood for the gym.  Now consider a relaxed, eased mindset as you got under the bar.  A little relaxation can go a long way.

Rounding out our safe-anytime-of-day formula is Schisandra, the five-flavor berry.  Borrowed lovingly from ancient medicine, the five-flavor berry is often used to ward off stress and disease. Lowering stress in the body while performing actions to stress the body may sound counterintuitive until you have that one last rep to squeak out.  All of these reactions are the result of signaling the liver to produce enzymes that help the body recover faster, keeping you calm, cool, and collected while you grind out that last set.

All around Big Noise is blended to do exactly what is says, get you focused and pumped.  I have come to enjoy Big Noise as both a go-to pre-workout and part of a pre-workout stack with Total War.  On late night lifting sessions, I do not have difficulty sleeping after Big Noise since it is non stimulant.  Redcon1 recommends taking it a half hour before hitting the gym and I agree.  That appears to have the most impact from the scoop when the weights hit your hand.  Scoops should be limited to one per day, and this is clearly indicated on the label.  While I mentioned before I prefer the unflavored for stacking, I have not had an unpleasant experience with any of the flavors offered.  So if you are ready to bring the noise, head over to Redcon1 and get yourself some Big Noise!
